If youre into cocktails, this is the app to have. Ive tried them all and this is by far the best. Dont get it because if the recipes - get it because it offers amazing customizability, and once youve tweaked your own recipes and created new ones, you can back them up. I also had a question about the app, so I sent the Dev an email and got a response in about 1 hr. Talk about support!

Missing a lot of drinks would not recommend it

Love the app, but when will it be updated to iOS 7 and 8? Come on guys!

Aug 14, 2015 The age of the app is showing. Unfortunately it seems to have been abandoned. Multiple attempt to contact the developer have gone unanswered. It would be best to avoid this app until it is resuscitated. Dec 30, 2013 I have tried several drink recipe apps and this is by far the most versatile and easy to use. The cabinet feature alone is fantastic. No app has ALL the recipes out there, but this one has LOTS, plus you can easily add those that arent in there.

Missing popular drinks. Outdated. Interface looks old. Would not recommend.

tons of cocktail apps on the app store now, but this one has the best recipes and the best ui. for a buck you can replace bar books that cost $15 or more. gotta love technology!

I cant tell you how many times this app has come in handy. Whether Im at home, at a party or at a bar, any drink questions that arise are answered with this fun and intuitive app. I love that I can open Top Shelf Drinks and hand the device to practically anyone and it makes sense to them. Sort by ingredients, drink name, or just your favorites for starters. I have to admit I love the holiday drinks! Luckily, I hadnt customized my cabinet before the holiday update so I didnt lose any information, but I know the developers are fixing that (they were quick to respond to concerns and very apologetic) so I am not worried about customizing away! I have used this app for years and tried many others, but Top Shelf is Top Notch.

This App is great. We use it all the time whether it be at home, at parties or even on vacation.

This ap does not include Cointreau as an ingredient. I can only speculate what else it is missing.

I am a paying customer, not affiliated with the developer in any way. I am also one of the app users who lost all my data with the latest update. Without a doubt, this was a colossal screwup on the part of the developer, and they deserve a good bashing for that act of negligence. HOWEVER, it appears that other reviewers here have not made much effort to work with the developer to recover their personalized data. IT IS POSSIBLE. Upon discovering my data loss, I contacted the developer and received a response within 48 hours. The support technician expressed considerable and genuine regret for the situation. They have subsequently worked very hard to extract my data from a Time Machine backup in such a way that none of my other 150 apps are affected. When the corrected update of TopShelf is released shortly, it should be possible to overlay the missing data on the new database. Fingers crossed that all will be well... the developer has also assured me that the next version will have a method for backing up data via iTunes so that this never happens again. In short, they made a one-star gaff on a four-star product and followed that up with five-star service. Im satisfied and I think you will be, too, if you give them a chance. Dook! Dook Dook!

I loved this app, but the update just wiped out months of customizing without any warning whatsoever. The update seems to have simply overwritten the entire database and completely discarded everything Ive done. A destructive update for a customizable database is a very bad thing; not warning this would happen is worse. Please do fix this - its a big blemish on an otherwise phenomenal app. ***Edit: It took a bit to get through the emails asking for help, but the dev has been both responsive to and sincerely apologetic about the unfortunate and unintended effects of the last update. Im very pleased with the sincerity of the promise to add the ability to back up the custom data in the next release. I didnt abandon the app, and the developer hasnt abandoned us, so Ive increased my rating to acknowledge their conscientiousness. Its a great app, and I believe in the end this will actually have made it better. Looking forward to the next release.

Would love to be able to have multiple profiles for different liquor "cabinets." Like one for home and one for um, work. Or other location.

Ive been using Top Shelf for ages and it remains my favorite reference for drink recipes. The interface is clean, intuitive, and attractively designed, and the database is excellent as well.

This terrific cocktail recipe app keeps getting better. It really is the most customizable drinks app Ive seen and the latest version lets you easily share recipes with other devices. The only down side to this app is that there is no way to delete the thousands of stock recipes, many of which are pretty bad. I have worked around this issue by simply renaming all of these recipes, but that gets to be pretty time-consuming. Now that its done, though, this baby is humming and as a serious bartender, I reference it every day. Its one of the most important apps on my phone. Im a long time user of this app and hit some difficulties with the latest updates. But the support team was terrific and fixed all of my problems. Great company!

The feature I was most excited about, checking off the ingredients in my bar and having it tell me what I can make, is almost totally useless. Instead of allowing you to run down a list and put a checkmark next to what you have, you have to add each item individually by clicking the "plus" button at the top of the screen. And each time instead of taking it back to your last place in the list of ingredients, it takes you to the top! Infuriating. Thanks, NYT.

Update icons and images to retina for five stars

It would be nice to have a retina- version though.

•awkward way to set cabinet list •only 1 cabinet •NO PERSONAL RATINGS for each drink (ie 4 of 5 star) •many missing spirits, kentucky bourbon, Slivovitz, Becherovka, Schnapps (as as a type like brandy), etc It has the foundation for a great app and is worth it, but needs improvement.
