Top Shelf Drinks App Reviews

Good but needs work

I like this app, but its buggy. I agree with others that the cabinet should be a checklist that doesnt require the laborious individual entry of items, but there are also some irritating inconsistencies. For example, when I select Lillet from my cabinet, only one drink comes up. But when I select Lillet from the ingredients list, three drinks pop up. Clearly the search function needs some retooling. I purchased this app for the cabinet, but it needs to be more fully integrated.

Needs Search

Great app for bartenders, but desperately needs a search feature. All Drinks > scroll is not acceptable.

Best bartending app for sure

This has several great features. The ability to add your own drinks was a big one for me, also being able to make notes about the drinks is great and being able to tag favorites. Also Ive tried at least three and this has the mostup to date recipes. As a bartender I still get drinks orders I dont know how to make, and its great to be able to say sure, no problem, and then go look it up. Definately my go-to, home page mixology app.

Best  Recipe App

This is one of the best apps in the app store. It is easily a 5-star app. The design, cabinet features and editing capacities are great. You can modify the pre-set drinks and add your own if there is a recipe thats not on there. You can share recipes via email and if that person has the app, there is an option to have them add the recipe to their app.

Already HAS a search function

The buzzhead below who ranted about mussing search should have spent time finding the search instead of trolling. Search exists exactly where it would be in any iPhone app with a list - at the very top, just pull the list all the way down.

Already a great start.

If the developers keep updating; improved sharing, increase the database, pictures, it will get better and better.

Great for recording your own recipes

I have been using this for a few years to keep track of my own cocktail recipes. Great for emailing them to others too. Just needs two things. 1. Add your own picture of drinks. 2. Search function by key words. It may not be cool and flashy like the really colorful apps, but those are generally for NON bartenders and have errors.

Pretty good, but some omissions.

I like the straight-forward approach to the recipes. Just the facts, as it were. Im not Id care about any social networking options. I like the Cabinet idea, but it would be nice to have the option to enter specific brands, and cross reference. For instance, I would use different gins for a Martini or a Negroni. I guess thats no revelation to anyone. Lastly, I notice the Corpse Reviver is listed, but not the Corpse Reviver #2. I know thats a bit geeky, but the #2 is a better drink (IMO).

No search!

This app is useful as far as it goes, but I cant believe there isnt a search function. If I want to look up the name of a drink so I can find out what ingredients are in it, Im SOL.

Great Job

Better than all the other apps Ive tried. 3 out of 3 drinks have been spot on and the cabinet feature works well.

Not so good

Not able to search is stupid. Not having common drinks like liquid marijuana is also stupid so thats what I rate this as, stupid.

Excellant App

Large database to start with. Easy to modify or add your own recipes. User interface very comfortable.

One of the best

It could use a "want to try" list, though. Also, a shopping list would be nice, taking into account your liquor cabinet.

Near perfect

Great tool. Well done. Thanks a lot. Best buck Ive spent on a reference app since Websters dictionary . Top shelf is the go to app for mixing knowledge. A great way for novice AND veteran bartenders to learn new drinks, keep sharp, or even to find a drink which a regular customer of yours might enjoy based on their liquor of choice. Throwing out the suggestion of a new, perhaps exotic drink or shot can liven up any group and put cash in the tip jar. Drink ingredients are clearly spelled out with guidelines for proper mixing. A mixologists dream. Despite some posts saying you cant search for drinks using this app, thats not true! The problem is that some folk have difficulty using technology. Simply touch the "drinks" icon at the bottom of the screen. Tap any category on the next page and the search bar is right there. Easy. Put the iPad over a register at a bar and you can look up a drink fast and easy without looking like an idiot that asks the customer whats in his/her drink. Get it. Its a buck well spent.

Great app!

A very handy and very polished app. The only two features I would like to see added are the ability to create custom categories and syncing to iCloud. The database backup works well, which is a good alternative, but not as convenient for keeping the db current on multiple devices.

The Final Say

In drink apps. The app is not maxed out on potential but compared to alternatives, far outpaces the competition. The ability to edit recipes makes a mockery of Mixologist and the cabinet feature with the option of filtering for recipes that you have ever ingredient for is a tremendous time saver. Dont wait, give this a try today!

Cool app!

Easy to use cabinet option will prove to be very helpful as I learn new drinks. I love how u change edit recipes and save them as your own creation. Best cocktail app Ive used yet.

Great app

Great features. Better than other drink mixing apps.

Full screen support missing

Its time, developers, to get with it and add full screen support for 4" devices. This app could be easily made to be universal as well.

No iPhone 5 :(
